I want Wednesday: jade/seafoam/mint edish.

Ya know, there's no excuse for me to ever miss an "I want" post. All I'm ever talking about is shit I want.. need. My apologies. Personal lives appear to have a direct affect blog production.

Today I am doing a mint-themed "I want." What is it about that lovely tint of green that is a jade/seafoam/mint combo? You know the one. I always love that hue. Here are some of my favorite things recently discovered while obsessively scouring the internet for truly important products that I neither need nor can I afford. This is goin great. Enjoy.

source.
I wasn't really buying into the whole "Maharaja slipper" trend (or whatever) until I came upon these little beauties, Martini Spike by Jeffrey Campbell. Dammit, Jeffrey, chill out with the sweet shoes. I can't keep up (nor can I guarantee I won't bust my ass almost immediately upon trying to walk in a pair of those massive McQueen-esque platforms.. more on that later).

source.
I need to say little to introduce seafoam Japanese Washi tape with tiny white polka dots. A nice array of decorative Washi tapes is the adult version of a sticker collection.

source.
I'm, whoa, way into colored skinny jeans. Since my obsession in general with skinny pants is really hangin in there, the addition of color is a nice change of pace (slight change). Especially those with a nice mid-rise, ya know, I like to keep that shit nice and conservative these days. While I really enjoy the J Brand fit better (more on that later), they do not have nearly as many colors as the Joe's Jeans version. Also, Joe's has like, six shades of green. The above picture is of Atlantic & Lily Pad, the two most jade/seafoam/mint-y ones. They have, holy cow, 55 colors total. Bonita :)

source.
This 'here comes the sun' print is really nice. It's been inspiring me to paint things with green skies and tonal works in the variety of green, too. Can't get enough.

The carryall clutch.

I'm going crazy for the non-descript, plain leather pouch clutches that seem to be a trend right now. I've purchased my first one: the American Apparel Leather Carry-all Pouch. After agonizing over the color and size, I went with carmel in medium and I instantly regretted not going Large. Rather than deal with AA's annoying online merch return policy, I'm keeping it (that's what they want!) as I suspect I'll want another anyway. I do like it a lot, though; very roomy and it's cool because there are SO many colors and you don't get to choose your zipper color- I ended up with navy. Pretty! AA has three sizes in the leather, plus metallic and suede versions.
source.

I like this style because you can fold it over or just hold it as is. It's literally, a rectangular leather pouch with a zipper on one side. I think it's classy and I've seen some pretty cool versions of it, such as the below BEAUTYful metallic one from Gift Shop Brooklyn that has pockets inside. I also included a picture of the larger one she makes in bleach tie-dye. LOVE the juxtaposition of the sweet yet edgy top portion with a conservative, rustic leather base.
source.

source.

I truly think in my heart of hearts that if you are going to participate in this clutch trend, you need to own a plain black one. This one is much larger and perfect to fill that staple need. She has some very pretty colored suede ones, also.

2012 Golden Globes fashion.

Who knows the answer to "why have I taken this long to write a post on the Golden Globes?" so don't worry about it. The point is, I'm doing it now. I'm here for you now.

I made a note to write this post when I saw Reese Witherspoon's dress. She had the second aha! fashion moment of her career, I think (first being the 2007 yellow Nina Ricci dress). Good for her, I love Reesey. The other four ladies at the 2012 Golden Globes in my top five are Charlize Theron, Michelle Williams, Salma Hayek, and Claire Danes.

source.
Reese wore Zac Posen (meow) and she looked really happy. Red is really working on her. I like how dramatized the sweetheart, almost geometric when paired with the seams at her waist that guide the hourglass shape. Very pretty and non-stuffy hair.

source.
Charlize Theron was muy elegant in her Christian Dior. I'm so obsessed with that light pink, peachy neutral. It is so feminine and old glamour; always going to work. The neckline is gorgeous and I like how it would have been easy to put the embellishment in the center but Dior placed it slightly left to connect the ruffle.

source.
And honestly, I liked Michelle Williams' overall look than I did just her Jason Wu dress on its own. But it is pretty and unique and appears to have a nice texture, which I always enjoy.

source.
Same for Salma Hayek. She has to go on this list cuz she's such a hot chick. Gucci had the job of keeping her girls up all night. Lookin good.

source.
Where have you been, Claire Danes? Oh, you've totally been on a television show that's relatively popular and I've just overlooked it? Oh, ok. That's cool. I must say, this J. Mendel backless number is probably her best red carpet look ever. You have to admit it's getting better, it's getting better all the time.

I want Wednesday.

Dammit, I want so many things every day of the week. Craaaap. Right now this Deux Lux weekend bag is at the top of my list. Look how pretty the sequined base is! I love it. I think I need the black one because I like that it is basic in the sense that it is a neutral but has a dash of fancy to it with the sequins on the bottom portion. Shit, why the hell not? I wonder what the inside looks like. I would need a nice little getaway to use this, which of course, would hold only my shoes.
Speaking of, how about these kitten heel boots by Kickers? I'm not familiar with the brand but I think I'm into it. They're super cute, possibly to the point of unattractive. But don't worry, they circle back around to cute. Just my style.

Etsy find!

So I think I should tell you guys about this Etsy find that I found. You will like it. Pieces & Chloe is a very sweet company that fashions "dainty, modern, simple, wristwear"  I say sweet because it is just that. They are threaded bracelets; very delicate and feminine.

Di is very thoughtful in her work and presentation, going so far as to include a personal handwritten note discussing the jewelry she'd made for me. I like the fineness of her pieces and you can mix and match all the pretty styles and color offerings which are very tasteful and muted.  I picked six styles and six colors and asked Di Kim to use her creative judgment on the combinations :) The company has a neat story also..
"Pieces & Chloe is named after [my] two furry loves: Chloe, a Jack Russell Terrier, and Reeses, a red Doberman Pinscher named after the PB-&-chocolate candy. Inevitably, "Reeses" became "Pieces", and the rest is history. Each "piece" has been named after one of the many canines who have brought joy, laughter, and inspiration to [my] world."

You should definitely check it out.

So excited about this book!

Have you heard of White Girl Problems (I mean, besides the ones I tell you about here)? It's this chick who has a Twitter (@whitegrlproblem) and tweets about hilarious superfluous situations that only the most decadent woman would find herself in. She's totally superficial, bitchy, and selfish. In a good way. Beginning only in 2010, she's skyrocketed to almost half a million followers. Turns out she's releasing her first book in January (girlfriend moves fast)! White Girl Problems: A Novel by Babe Walker. Should be very amusing and you know how much I like to be amused. Last week she tweeted the following:

You can read the d-bag's article here. It's funny. She also has a blog where presently you can read a chapter of her book! Love it.

Two sweet-ass things to check out.

Ever read T Magazine? Well, you should. It's pretty sweet. It is a virtual magazine by NY Times and is divided into seven sections: Women's Fashion, Men's Fashion, Design, Travel, Food, Culture, and Video. Here are my two favorite regular features in the Women's Fashion section..

This is a cool photo feature that that exhibits a model's face before and after make up. Kinda pisses you off a little though, because they all look good before, too. Sometimes better. Anyway, you can drag the line back and forth and see any portion of before and after. Badass.

There is a shoe right off the runway. I'm not really clear if this is a regular feature or just a regular feature during fashion weeks. Either way, I like it. I hope the former. They sort through all of the fashion shows and pick the most.. stand out shoe of the day. They are usually an awesomely beautiful pair of footwear. This one ain't my favorite, I'll be real with you. But usually, really cool. I'll probably get sued by T Magazine after I post this..

i miss my blog,

I want Wednesday.

Dammit. I found some good stuff. I seriously am quite excited about the following two artists I found on Etsy! Etsy will be the death of me, I swear. Days at a time are lost on that website. It's a very excellent place to spend hours.. I wouldn't really consider them lost :)

Ok so whoa. Numero Uno is Concrete Polish by Angela Monaco out of Philly. THIS woman knows what she's doin. Girlfriend knows her way around a ring! Dig. Here are a few items I want (need) real bad.

Segundo es Coco de Paris by E vdArend. It's all original watercolor on French 1920s vintage magazine print. The imagery is bizarre with an element of whimsy, or maybe vice versa. Either way it's a winning combo.
I'm from Horse Country and only recently have I begun to appreciate these humongous-but-not-as-scary-as-previously-thought animals.

Music is color. Color is light. Music is light?

Deer are so pretty. I also enjoy guns.

If I were to smoke, I'd definitely use a holder and wear a long strand of pearls at all times. Maybe in my old age. Fuck it. You're already old. You and I both know there'll be no tobacco.

If you ever see a zebra close up their pattern has surprising contrast. It's just black to white. No noise. I also like Fruit Stripe Gum. Where'd that go?

I don't mind telling you that I have a birthday coming up,

I want Wednesday (Friday edition).

Gosh. I really just love all the new Kors by Michael Kors shoes. To be honest, I interned at MK so I already saw them last year but now I'm being reminded of how many pairs I want! Oh, no. With retro subtleties (from different eras) a la Veronica Lake peep-toes in suedes and a pair of Mary Janes.. Not to mention, they did a new spin on my favorite (and most comfortable) pair of flats of all time, the Olympia. They worked them in a nude snake skin! Heyooo! Not only have I found the pair of nude flats I've been searching for, but in such an excellent style and snake skin to boot? How lucky can one gal be? Dig. So anyway, here are my top 3 faves. Check it.

Movie: Breakfast at Tiffany's.

Obviously I've seen Breakfast at Tiffany's before, but never have I appreciated it appropriately. Now the time has come for me in my life to go through some big changes. I'm starting a new job, I became a mother of a beautiful baby boy kitty and I'm seeing the subtle nuances and comedic value in Breakfast at Tiffany's for the very first time. I feel like a school girl again! I don't know that I think Audrey was the greatest actress ever  but she does bring something to the table in the shade of quirkiness. Now I like quirky, who doesn't? So this, for me, is enough to keep me engrossed in a film. To be honest, I've watched it about 90 times in a row. I am still digging it.

I want Wednesday.

Ok, whoa. I want this skirt suit from JCrew. Here is the skirt and here is the jacket. Look how pretty it is! It is very profesh and utterly classic with a hint of retro, never to go out of style. And I love the 'heather elm' color and the pleating in the back. Very ladylike.
I'd like to pair the above lovely suit with these shoes. This pump from MMK called Benton is just a nice pair to have in your closet. They'd go with tons of stuff and are great for work. I like the coral-y red lipstick like in the picture to complete the look.

Additionally, I really want this dishware from Fishs Eddy collaborated on by Charley Harper and Todd Oldham. Mr. Harper is a really awesome animator who primarily does animals and Mr. Oldham is a designer of all trades who's been around for quite a while.  They both have awesome styles. I am using a transitional set of dishware currently so I keep looking out for the perfect set that is really me. I am not sure if I can commit to this body, mind and soul yet, but I'd sure like to have it in the rotation!

have a nice week!,

I want Wednesday.

I've found them. The perfect pair of black cat's eye sunglasses. But they are riiicch so I suspect I'll be wanting them for a while since I didn't win the Powerball last week. Son of a bitch. Tom Ford, why do you have to be so expensive and so sexual?! I want 'em. Not just bad, but real bad. Anyway. Here they are. I would obviously look so cute in them. And I know I'm a pushover, but I'm also open to them in Havana Tortoiseshell. Accepting donations because I'm sure the universe wants me to have them either way. K, thanks. Damn, I want them.

regards,
jayteewo.

Emergency 'I want.'

These shoes need me. I am thinking of so many outfits right now to wear them with. And makeup schemes. And places to wear them to. And who I'll talk to while in them..

Phewww! Anyway, check out these fantastical wedges. Really awesome. I'll be miles high in these and surely risk breaking one or both ankles. Just off the top of my head I'm thinking a tight, apricot American Apparel deep-V tucked into my Michael Kors skinny ankle dress pants. Reddd lipstick.

Look how pretty.

Look at how beautiful these new Gap visuals are for the 1969 Legging Jean. Aren't they pretty? I love the style and tone. It is so different but at the same time, relatable. Also here is the film and the story to go along with The GAP 1969 Denim Studio. You can get 30% off your entire purchase right now. Hop on it.

I want Wednesday.

You guys. I just need like a million things. Who the H is gonna buy them for me?! I'm really having problems so I am super excited about how I'm going to be winning the lottery tonight! It will be SO great to have that $111 million to saunter around with, fanning myself on the way to the shoe store. So, yah. I want lots of stuff. I can't even focus enough to write this post. When are my damn red beans & rice gonna be done? It's been forever!

I'm starting to get my shit back together so I at least have Photoshop now to provide you with a visual aid. It's like a children's book up in here. Anyway (focus!) I've decided that maybe I might want to delve into the world of hair flowers. Or do I? I don't know. I'm still doing my research. The way I see it, this can go one of three ways and here they are as described in photographs (of more stuff I want).

1) Go glam. Floral with some sparkle- an obvious option. And I like the tonal quality with my brown hair, it's not such a risk that way.

2) Go big or go home. People. I need to wear this thing on my head at my wedding (or, if that doesn't work out, just some arbitrary day in June in the hopefully near future). I like this thing because I could make a statement with it. I'd like to wear it with hair tied low and just a strapless little black dress. Nude pumps. Please.

3) Go with something artsy. You're not even trying to stick with the authentic flower look anymore. I dig the feathers. This girl has a lot more to choose from.

Well, I like all three. I don't know what I'm gonna do.. until tonight, that is.

Wonderful Wednesday,
jayteewo.

p.s.- red beans & rice a success.

Obsessed!

High-waisted shorts. Here's a little background on how I feel about shorts in general: I hate them. I do not enjoy showing you my ass cheeks and my whole thigh- I usually make someone work for the rights of that viewing area. But that's what is largely available. I grew up in Florida so I've been forced to wear shorts regardless of my personal feelings. It's all you can do to keep on any clothing during the hot months (all of them)! Usually opting for a longer variety (I know) I live with shorts out of necessity. Lately, I've started to see a pair of high-waisted shorts here and there and I'm glad. Though I'm not sure why it hadn't occurred to me up until this point, it's apparent that my style niche in the shorts category is high-waisted. I'm pretty excited. I don't know why it's somehow acceptible to my code to wear shorter shorts if they be high-waisted, but it's working for me. Perhaps it's the total amount of material used that's of issue. Who knows..

These are two pairs I purchased at Urban Outfitters: the first are by Sparkle & Fade the second by BDG. (gimme a break on the belt: it was an impulse buy in Milan that I periodically wear to justify the amount of euros it set me back) If you have a longer torso on a somewhat curvy figure, this is a nice silhouette. It's all about proportion. I've finally found shorts I can handle. Hallelujah!

jayteewo.

I want Wednesday.

Please look at how fabulous this is. This Dolce & Gabbana Animalier Bronze is in July's Allure. It's exclusively at Saks and is limited edish. I haven't tried any of D&G's cosmetics yet, but I love their gorgeous ads. This bronzer is muy bonita and perfect for Summer. Need it real bad.

This is more practical but also perfect for this long, hot Summer. I have wanted this "Hydration Vessel" by KOR ONE in orchid pink for a long time. I don't know why I haven't purchased it. It's ergonomic and the top is attached. And it has a handle! Any way I can be just a little more lazy, I'm into. They say it's the best reusable water receptacle out there. But I don't know who "they" are so you better decide for yourself.

jayteewo.

I want Wednesday.

I want this peacock print (by Eleanor Grosch with PushMePullYou Design, $40). But to be honest, I haven't any more wall space so it'll have to wait. I love Eleanor's art and have been following her for a while. Most of her work depicts animals in a unique, graphic way. She's got a really cool way of looking at things. She's always updating her blog at justeleanor.com.

These glasses are shmancy. I'm lovin a cat's eye frame. (Look Sharp Shades in taupe, $24) The pair I really want are Chanel and they have sparkles in the lenses! Sparkles!

see ya,
jayteewo.
