I want Wednesday: jade/seafoam/mint edish.

Ya know, there's no excuse for me to ever miss an "I want" post. All I'm ever talking about is shit I want.. need. My apologies. Personal lives appear to have a direct affect blog production.

Today I am doing a mint-themed "I want." What is it about that lovely tint of green that is a jade/seafoam/mint combo? You know the one. I always love that hue. Here are some of my favorite things recently discovered while obsessively scouring the internet for truly important products that I neither need nor can I afford. This is goin great. Enjoy.

I wasn't really buying into the whole "Maharaja slipper" trend (or whatever) until I came upon these little beauties, Martini Spike by Jeffrey Campbell. Dammit, Jeffrey, chill out with the sweet shoes. I can't keep up (nor can I guarantee I won't bust my ass almost immediately upon trying to walk in a pair of those massive McQueen-esque platforms.. more on that later).

I need to say little to introduce seafoam Japanese Washi tape with tiny white polka dots. A nice array of decorative Washi tapes is the adult version of a sticker collection.

I'm, whoa, way into colored skinny jeans. Since my obsession in general with skinny pants is really hangin in there, the addition of color is a nice change of pace (slight change). Especially those with a nice mid-rise, ya know, I like to keep that shit nice and conservative these days. While I really enjoy the J Brand fit better (more on that later), they do not have nearly as many colors as the Joe's Jeans version. Also, Joe's has like, six shades of green. The above picture is of Atlantic & Lily Pad, the two most jade/seafoam/mint-y ones. They have, holy cow, 55 colors total. Bonita :)

This 'here comes the sun' print is really nice. It's been inspiring me to paint things with green skies and tonal works in the variety of green, too. Can't get enough.

Etsy find!

So I think I should tell you guys about this Etsy find that I found. You will like it. Pieces & Chloe is a very sweet company that fashions "dainty, modern, simple, wristwear"  I say sweet because it is just that. They are threaded bracelets; very delicate and feminine.

Di is very thoughtful in her work and presentation, going so far as to include a personal handwritten note discussing the jewelry she'd made for me. I like the fineness of her pieces and you can mix and match all the pretty styles and color offerings which are very tasteful and muted.  I picked six styles and six colors and asked Di Kim to use her creative judgment on the combinations :) The company has a neat story also..
"Pieces & Chloe is named after [my] two furry loves: Chloe, a Jack Russell Terrier, and Reeses, a red Doberman Pinscher named after the PB-&-chocolate candy. Inevitably, "Reeses" became "Pieces", and the rest is history. Each "piece" has been named after one of the many canines who have brought joy, laughter, and inspiration to [my] world."

You should definitely check it out.

An exposé on cuteness.

I love the effect cuteness has on me. Only recently did I pinpoint it. Cuteness and love combined are like, a super winning combination. I'm not one to be particularly susceptible to cuteness but when I am it is BIG. Lately, for me, the object of cuteness is my new kitty, Milo. He's the sweetest. He's cuddly and lovey and I feel so lucky when he sleeps all snugged up on me. This has gotten me thinking about cuteness as a subject matter. What is it? Why is it? How does it occur? When? Where?!
teeny baby teefers!

The answers to these questions vary but when cuteness surfaces, more often than not it's indisputable and unanimous. An audible, "awww" is heard. Frequently it's an object that is exaggerated or ridiculous in some way. Very small, very furry, very shy, very flat face. The object is wearing something silly or off kilter. Something surprising. Example: Milo hugs. When he stretches, he hugs. Maybe you didn't hear me: HE HUGS. Oh. My. God. It's a-d-o-r-a-b-l-e (see above).

Cute Overload is a website dedicated solely to cuteness and it is well.. cute (wow I really reached my limit for the month on this word). Usually it features animals, that's easy. Do you have a cold heart?! Of course that is cute. Kids are cute (sometimes.. ok, rarely). Hey, I guess it's living things more often than not.

I'm bored with this article. I'm gonna level with you: not sure where I was going this. You're welcome for pictures of my Milo Sun.

Birthday Wishlist.

Yes, I'm doing this. With the big 2-6 rapidly approaching (wah), I find myself wanting to go to one of two extremes: childhood or a more sophisticated version of the big girl I am. This sucks so I'm just gonna start talking about things the birthday girl wants.*

I want some pricey dishware. It's by no means within my means. If you know me (you don't) you know I like color. I'm the kind of person who doesn't really worry about coordinating her possessions in any way but more trusts that it will "work" together. Everything is colorful. EVERYthing has a pattern. EveryTHING is a standout item. But, in the effort to step it up in the "more sophisticated version of  the big girl I am" category, I am going white. Whaaa, white? What's happening? That's right: white. I don't know if it's the passing of our leader, Mr. Steve Jobs, or the desire for maybe something to look slightly less random.. but I want white dishware. My mother has a combination of these dishes in warm tones. Very home-y. Very high quality.

I like it because the color is white but the shapes are relaxed and the glaze is less around the rims so you can see through to the terracotta underneath. I think food would look beautiful on them. Look, I don't want to be greedy so let's start with four each of dinner plates, salad plates, cereal bowls, and condiment bowls.

This fabulous ring and my philosophy on life.

I've had a hankering for jade, bug motifs, and brooches. All in one

This Lulu Frost for JCrew bangle is retro and chic. It goes with everything!

These shoes haven't left my wishlist. I need them.

Last but certainly not least.

*subject to personal interpretation or if you see something awesome that you know I'd totally want..

Milo Sun!

Meet Milo Sun. He is my new sun. (Milo from Milo and Otis and he is my son, my sunshine) Two days ago this little parcel of buff and cream geometrics came into my life like a ray of sunshine. My new kitty is just a little baby sweetie angel. It's been a whirlwind of emotions, I'll tell ya. I have waited and waited oh-so-patiently and I just knew. I knew it was my time. My time, dammit! My time to take on a project that I can't afford and don't understand! I am a grown lady and now I'm ready to become a grown cat lady. Jumping right in the deep end on this one.

 Mother-sun portrait, I.
My brown eyes met their golden complement in his sweet face.. Truly, I held another kitty while my true kitty counterpart slept, simply careless and ignoring me. I love a man who pays me no attention. Home he came and I've been happy ever since. Just delightful little surprises here and there but for the most part he is snuggly and lovey and spookative and energetic and sleepy and still very much a kitten. I'll be honest, the litter thing is not ideal. However, after weighing the options for seven (yes, seven) years since I left home, I feel the pros outweigh the cons at this point.

Now I just concentrate on whether he'll be a victim of infant death syndrome if I rollover on him in my sleep or if the slight whistle in his nose is pneumonia just waiting to pop up and screw up my life and bank account. I'm really worried about that nose whistle. What if he's not okay?! My mom said the rolling over on him death scenario is impossible but I'm not so sure, Mom. You underestimate the depth of his languor.

Good news is this extemporaneous change in lifestyle will probably lead to me being content enough with Milo to not try for anything else. So I guess we're at a plateau here. This is it. Milo Sun is enough. Could be a relief. Seriously though, I love him. LOVE HIM. I. CAN'T. STOP.
The whole world shifts when you have something/someone to give your love to.

bye!

Etsy find.

How cute are these?! I just found this shop called elloh that does "odes to" pop culture via paintings, specifically to television shows. She has great taste (same as mine) in entertainment so I am of course dying for the Arrested Development and Mad Men prints. These would be great gifts! A cool way to show your support and a piece of artwork to look at in one. I love the element of humor, too :) I wish she had some originals on there as well.

Kitties.

There is a real show on Animal Planet entitled "Too Cute! Kittens." It is freakin cute. It's about little baby kittens from birth on (I could deal without the birthing shots though..). It's a whole show about adorableness. That is a word! Sweet little baby fuzzies. I want 'em. Did you know that cats sleep from 13 to 16 hours a day? I'm not really into cute, squishy, fluffy stuff but sometimes you can't deny it. Kittens make me melt like a popsicle on the fourth of July. Have you seen that video of the mama kitty hugging its baby?! You have to watch it. I die. You're gonna love it. (maybe not, but I've been watching a lot of daytime television lately and this beats "Cold Case")

I want Wednesday.

Oh. My. Goodness. (are the only three words needed to describe this little beaut)

I want, neigh, need this little Maltese/Chihuahua mix, or one like it of equal designer breeding, of course. I have not been able to commit to a pet, despite having wanted one for seven years now. (I think) I'm ready. (I think) I have room. (I know) I wanna squish it 'til it's little head pops off.

It will only be about five pounds which is kinda like a cat which I like, too but more cuddly like a dog, which I expect I'll require. Typical that I want a pet that's super expensive but if you really think about it it's only a one time payment for a lifetime (few years) of delightful memories. So they say.

good day,
jayteewo.
